What is an alternative school?


Wikipedia definition: An alternative school is an educational establishment with a curriculum and methods that are non-traditional. Such schools offer a wide range of philosophies and teaching methods; some have strong political, scholarly, or philosophical orientations, while others are more ad hoc assemblies of teachers and students dissatisfied with some aspect of mainstream or traditional education.

Who can attend?

Any child studying kindergarten in 2020. Unfortunately we are only able to accommodate those studying Early Stage 1 & Stage 1 at this stage.

How much does it cost?

Each course will be priced accordingly and may differ depending on the community provider hosting the course.

Can I drop my child off?

Yes, in most cases the courses do not require a parent/guardian to attend. However, there may be exceptions to this depending on the course and its location. 

Is HAS accredited?

No, at this stage we have not looked into gaining accreditation.

How big are the classes?

In most cases classes we aim to keep classes quite small, consisting of 10 pupils only.

Courses are held in Community Centres, private gardens, dance studios, art studios etc. 

Do you provide lunch?

In most cases no, unless stated otherwise.

Can I get a refund?

Due to small numbers and high demand we cannot offer refunds.

Is it OK if I stay & watch?

Yes, unless stated otherwise. 

Do you accept the active/creative kids voucher?

In some circumstances yes. This is dependent on the community provider hosting the course.
